Metro has announced Grant Woodthorpe’s promotion to the position of Commercial Managing Director at the leading urban media brand.
This happens at an exciting time for Metro with a new commercial structure in place, a variety of large commercial partnerships happening and ongoing developments with digital platforms.
A sales strategy specialist and industry expert, Grant first joined Metro as a Group Head of Sales in February 2000. Since then, his roles have included Investment Director, Executive Director of Sales & Commercial Development and most recently, Trading Director. In each of these positions, Grant has always been responsible for ensuring Metro has the right sales strategy and structures in place to achieve exceptional financial targets across all platforms.
Grant’s promotion follows a highly successful twelve months for Metro, including a 10% increase in circulation as well as holding the number one market share for the newspaper in 2016 (average 14.6%). Metro also won gold at Media Week Awards 2016 for its ‘wear it pink’ campaign in the Media Idea – Launch category.
