Metro named National Tabloid Newspaper Travel Feature of the Year

Metro’s weekly travel feature walked away with the top award for National Tabloid Newspaper Travel Feature of the Year at this year’s Travel Media Awards on 27th October 2016. The evening saw 20 publications, broadcasters, journalists and photographers awarded prestigious accolades. Metro was recognised for its Escape section, packed with the latest holiday destinations and travel advice, featured in-paper every Monday.

Features Editor, Tracey Blake, said, “Our Contributing Travel Editor, Lisa Scott, comes up with original travel ideas week in, week out and gets a really unique, quirky spin on Escape that totally reflects Metro – from world exclusives up Sex Mountain (!) to getting a 90-year-old monk to give you a tour of a city. A huge well done to Lisa and the features team for creating such a strong weekly section. We’re extremely pleased to get this recognition at the Travel Media Awards.”

The Travel Media Awards were created in recognition of the hugely influential role that today’s travel media play. Categories covered a wide range of disciplines and media, from consumer travel magazines (both national and regional) to travel trade titles and guide books.
